CMS, together with CITES, Ramsar and World Heritage Convention addresses Ministers at CBD CoP10

The secretariats of CMS, CITES, Ramsar and World Heritage Conventions made a joint statement to the High level Segment of the 10th Conference of the Parties to CBD CoP10.

The statement, read by the Secretary General of CITES, John Scanlon, reminded delegates that while having specific mandates which are more targeted and more operational that the CBD, these conventions contribute towards achieving the same objectives of supporting the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity. It called on parties to adopt an inclusive strategic plan with robust and relevant targets that would enable the reality of each country to be reflected through the National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plans and would contribute towards more coherent and effective on the ground action.
